High School Graduation Requirements

Students Graduating in 2007-08

  • Must satisfy all course, credit and testing requirements for at least one Course of Study in order to earn a diploma
    • For the College/University; College Tech Prep and Career Prep Courses of Study students must meet 26 total credits
    • For the Occupational Course of Study students must meet 22 total credits
  • Must meet the graduation course and testing requirements that were effective the year they entered ninth grade for the first time.
  • Must meet the graduation course and testing requirements during the time they are in grades nine through twelve.

•  *Although there is not a computer course requirement, students must pass the NC Computer Proficiency Test (performance & multiple choice)

•  Students must also pass the NC Minimum Competency Skills Test (math & reading).

These requirements are generally met in middle school.

•  **Students may choose CTE Pathway electives that include a capstone/completer course.

•  ***Students may choose from CTE, Arts, or other electives. To be considered for

recognition as a NC Scholar, students must choose 1 course from CTE and 1 course from the

Arts.

•  ****Students choose from electives geared to occupational preparation.
