The Cary YMCA and Inside Out Sports are in need of volunteers to staff this year’s Inside Out Sports 8K Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. We need help on Wednesday to stuff participant packets and for late registration and packet pick up at Inside Out Sports, and on Thanksgiving morning for the fun run, the 8k and the 100 yd. dash for the little ones.
Positions include water stops, timers, course volunteers, finish line, and of course MORE packet pick up. If you plan to be in town that day and won’t be eating until later, please check us out at http://tinyurl.com/Volunteer-Turkey . This is a great family event, as there are entire families entered as participants, and there are several families who come out and volunteer together as their own service event for the holiday.
On Tuesday, December 9, there will be a cap and gown order make-up day during SMART lunch in the gym lobby. Remember, you need to be prepared to make two payments that day. We would like to bring your attention to an exciting opportunity for your students. It is a free summer day camp for students interested in geology. Since many students will not be taking an earth science course this semester, we would appreciate if you would inform the students in all your science classes about the camp.
Exploring the Earth Summer Camp:
Students will be exposed to research in geology, marine science and atmospheric science and will participate in research activities in each area. Camp counselors from the Marine, Earth and Atmospheric sciences department at North Carolina State University include representatives of each discipline.
