Seniors, the Cary Central Rotary Club scholarship applications are now available in Student Services! They are offering two scholarships. The Harvey Duke Scholarship for a student who plans to attend a four year college or university and the Boyce Brown for a student who plans to attend a two year college. Please come by Student Services for an application. The deadline for these scholarships is: April 25, 2014.
Attention Seniors: The NC Society of Accountants Scholarship Foundation was established in 1970 to provide scholarships for deserving students who indicate a desire to enter the profession of accounting. This year's scholarship awards will be $600 each. Applications are available at the front desk in Student Services. Applications are due by April 15th.
Attention Seniors: North State Law Enforcement Officers Association is offering educational scholarships to NC seniors with a minimum 3.0 GPA who plan to major in Criminal Justice or related field. Applications and eligibility requirements are available in Student Services. Applications must be received by May 10th.

A walk-a-thon for the Autism Society will be held at the Cary High track on Saturday, April 26, from 9am-11:30am. Walkers will collect pledges for laps with proceeds benefiting the Autism Society. People will also be welcome to donate the day of the walk. NC numbers indicate 1:58 in NC are diagnosed. To sign up for the walk-a-thon: Walkers can come to room 2107 at CHS to get a pledge form. Attention Seniors! Applications are now being accepted for the annual Friends of the Page-Walker History Scholarship, which is awarded to a high school senior residing in Cary who exhibits an aptitude and interest in the study of history and humanities. The $750 award is given to a high school senior who is a Cary resident, and may be used for any educational-related expenses. In addition, the recipient's name will be displayed on a permanent plaque at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. Please help me celebrate Sarah Summers, William Lake, and Natalie Terrell for being selected to attend the very prestigious 2014 North Carolina Governor's School. Sarah was selected in the area of Vocal Music, William for Mathematics, and Natalie for French. This program is incredibly competitive and we are honored to have these three students representing our school and Wake County.
WCPSS has announced the semi-finalists for the Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher of the Year Award. Lydia Paulk of Cary High has been named a semi-finalist for the High School First Year Teacher Award.
The WCPSS Diane Kent-Parker First Year Teacher Award recognizes outstanding first year beginning teachers. The award is named in honor of Diane Kent-Parker who served in WCPSS Human Resources as Senior Director for Recruitment and Retention. The Cary High NJROTC entered five teams into this year's National Academic Exam. In competition against more than 600 other NJROTC units and more than 1,700 separate teams around the country, Cary High NJROTC had one team place in the top 5%, three teams finish in the top 15%, and four teams in the top 25% nationally! All five Cary teams placed in the top 40% in the nation. Congratulations, Cary High NJROTC academic team.
Cary High junior Will Clark won the 132-pound Junior National Championship in the 25th annual National High School Wrestling Championships last Sunday in Virginia Beach, VA. Cary's own Will Clark won a National Championship in Wrestling over the break. Will had 98 wrestlers in his weight class from 34 states with 20 State Champions and numerous State place-winners in his weight class bracket and he won it! Congrats Will!
